Common Ways To Deal With Stress

Nobody can avoid stress, but we can strive to deal with them so that it doesn’t cause a strain on our well-being and to make us feel better – also known as a coping strategy. Relieving stress can take on different forms – whether if it is binge watching on our favorite K dramas for half a day or treating yourself to a good feast. Most stress busting strategies that people employ can both be beneficial and detrimental to our bodies, either making us feel more rejuvenated or making our stress worse in the long run. Which do you choose?

1. Stress Eating

Nothing better to curb stress than with food. Stress eating can take on many forms – whether it is indulging in a good, expensive meal or finishing up a tub of ice cream – though we are pretty certain that it often leads to people feeling guiltier about the additional calories that they have piled on their bodies.

2. Exercising

Exercising and sweating it out generates endorphins which will make you feel happier and more relaxed. This is one of our favorite ways to destress because once you are engaged in a sport that you love, you will naturally forget about the problems that you are currently facing.

3. Binge-watching your favorite shows

How about lying in bed and binge-watching the entire season of Modern Family? If not, crying our hearts out to a heart-wrenching K drama sounds like a good idea to destress too.

4. Dating

Many people also turn to dating because seeing someone you love can instantly make you feel better and forget all the problems that you are currently facing. Plus, they can also lend a listening ear or even give you solutions to solve them since they know you so well.

5. Taking a long bath

Rubbing essential oils while taking long baths can help to curb stress and aid your minds in relaxing. Plus, you can also take the time out to think better when you are feeling the most at ease.

6. Getting some fresh air

Most people also love to head out for a short walk when they are feeling stressed – regardless if it is to their nearby park or even to the nearest hawker center to get some food – anything to take their mind away for a while.

7. Drinking, Smoking, Clubbing

Clubbing, smoking and drinking – checked! Some people feel that dancing their night away and drinking their sorrows can be a quick release to their problems. However, most people do not realise that doing these will only make them feel more stressed up and they will return to the vice over and over.

8. Hibernating

The thought of hiding away under the covers sounds pretty great, but sleeping too much isn’t the answer too. Very often, these people are just running away from their problems and the heavy work load is just going to exacerbate their stress levels even further.
